ClassTimer

I was wanting to improve my spell rotation, and this post caught my eye. Too many times I refresh a DoT that has 6+ seconds left on it, wasting lots of damage/mana in the process. There's an interesting post about the difference between ClassTimer and Dottimer in the way that it collects data. I really like the uniformity of the timers in how it sorts them by soonest expiring, it's really helped my overall rotation and even my DPS. Good stuff.

The wiki for it on WowAce is http://www.wowace.com/wiki/ClassTimer

Thanks for the info Kyr. I'm using Dot Timer now and I like it a lot (after I tweaked the settings a bit). I'd like to give Class Timer a try sometime outside of any raids.

Yeah, 'cause you can't set DoTimer to sort by duration left.

I'll take a look at it, but I must say, I'm immediately turned off by the (apparent) fact that the addon doesn't have a GUI to work with, only a big huge list.

I've been trying out Class Timer side-by-side today and only as a fist impression I'm still leaning towards Dot Timer. They seem to be just as accurate as each other but I like DoT Timers scaling and color changing effect as a visual warning over Class Timers auto-sorting by duration left. I also like how DoT Timer lists the dot a little while after its up in case you missed it expire, where Class timer seems to remove the dot from the list immediately.

But this is just a first impression so far. Class Timer doesn't seem bad at all and what it will probably come down to is a matter of preference.

After playing with it, I definitely like DoTimer better. ClassTimer may have a slightly more powerful system for picking up buffs and debuffs, but they track them the same (and I know that DoTimer's tracking system is built to work with the Bliz UI's feeble timer mechanisms), and DoTimer is far more powerful when it comes to bar display options.

Plus, you get the cooldown and notification mods with DoTimer.

Is that what happens when someone punches you in the face with a new add-on :?:
